Emily is a writer living in Maine, fascinated by the natural and the supernatural. She studied Creative Writing at the University of Maine at Farmington, where she was honored to be granted an Excellence in Poetry award and work with the Beloit Poetry Journal.
In Seattle, she had the opportunity to work at the renowned literary arts center Richard Hugo House, both in their marketing department and as manager of their bar + café, where dozens of writing events were held each year. She also co-founded
HOARSE, a lit journal shortlisted for the
Stranger Genius Award. Living in Seattle from 2008-2020, she felt lucky to be surrounded by a vibrant writing community and take part in organizing and participating in so many fun and unique literary events.
With years of experience as a writer, editor, and communications specialist, and a unique background in nutrition, hypnotherapy, and herbal medicine, Emily brings a holistic perspective to her work. She embraces herself as queer and lives with her sweetheart and their daughter, who asks compelling questions like, do butterflies sit in chairs to eat lunch?
Her favorite formats are poetry, essay, journalism, and audio storytelling. Recent work has been published or is forthcoming in Anodyne Magazine, the Champagne Room, MUTHA Magazine, and Deep Overstock.
